Rotherham United have been drawn at home to Morecambe in the next round of the Carabao Cup which will be just the second time the teams have met in this competition.

The first time was in the first round in the 2016/17 season at the New York Stadium in a game that had nine goals. Cole Stockton put the visitors in front on just six minutes with the Millers equalising from the penalty spot just before the hour mark after Ryan Edwards pulled Greg Halford over in the area with the tall defender scoring from the spot-kick. Less than ten minutes later Jack Dunn put the visitors back in front with Jerry Yates getting a second equaliser on the eighty-first minute. Anthony Forde put the hosts in front for the first time before Richard Wood was adjudged to have pulled down Dunn in the area and the forward taking and scoring the penalty to send the tie into extra time at three-three. Former Miller Kevin Ellison put Morecambe back in front in the second half of extra time with Dunn getting his hat-trick a few minutes later. In the final minute of the game Yates scored again with the final score being five-four to the Shrimps.

A two-one win away at Vale Park saw the Millers get through to round two this season with Ollie Rathbone and Chieo Ogbene scoring in the first half and Port Vale pulling one back ten minutes from time from Malvind Benning. Morecambe got a goalless draw with Stoke City at the Globe Arena and had Jensen Weir sent off on sixty-two minutes. The penalty shoot-out saw them score five to the Potters three.
