Rotherham United made the short journey to the Keepmoat this evening for their penultimate pre-season friendly where they took on Doncaster Rovers and twice came from behind to get a draw.

It was the hosts who had the first chance on three minutes when they won a free-kick some twenty-five yards out which Luke Molyneux took seeing his shot go just wide. And it was Molyneux again a minute later who sent a ball meant for George Miller but it was just too far in front of the former Barnsley striker. A long pass from Millers’ ‘keeper Josh Vickers nearly set Georgie Kelly up but the ball ended up with Jonathan Mitchell in Rovers’ goal. On eleven minutes Rovers went in front after a ball over the top from Adam Clayton found Miller who fired home. Rotherham came close to an equaliser when first Wes Harding got a good ball from Peter Kioso with the ball in going out for a corner which was followed by a header from Kelly which was deflected for another corner. That Dan Barlaser corner found the head of Hakeem Odoffin whose header was an equaliser for the visitors. After a drinks break the hosts got a free-kick which Molyneux took finding Clayton whose shot came off one of is team mates for a goal-kick to the Millers. Ben Wiles tried his luck from distance which went wide before a Rotherham corner ended up with Miller who sent a long ball down the pitch for Molyneux but he couldn’t quite get to it. A superb save from Vickers saw him deny one of Rovers’ trialists when he found himself one-on-one with the Millers ‘keeper. In the final minute of the half a good run from Chieo Ogbene saw him get the ball to Harding who shot into the waiting arms of Mitchell leaving it one-all at half-time.

Doncaster set off well in the second half with George Miller coming close to a second but a great tackle from Peter Kioso stopped him in his tracks. Ten minutes later Miller did get his, and Rovers, second after Tommy Rowe set him up Miller bends the ball into the back of the net. Two changes for the Millers saw Jamie Lindsay, who had a shot at goal as soon as he came on, and Conor Washington replace Hakeem Odoffin and Ollie Rathbone while Rovers changed Luke Molyneux with Reo Griffiths which was soon followed with Josh Andrews and former Miller Kieran Agard on for George Miller and Trialist B. Not much action on the pitch though the hosts made another change fetching on Charlie Seaman to replace Ollie Younger. A minute later and the visitors equalised after some good work between Kioso and Lindsay saw the ball fall to Georgie Kelly who made it two-two with a super finish. And a couple of minutes later Rotherham could have been in front after Lindsay and Washington played a one -two with Lindsay seeing his shot go just wide. A cross from Washington looked like it would reach Kioso but Jonathan Mitchell got there to punch behind for a corner which came to nothing. With five minutes to go Rovers made another double substitution when Harrison Biggins and Trialist A made way for Trialist C and Liam Ravenhill.

A very hot night (after an extremely hot and uncomfortable day) saw this game end two-all and Paul Warne get more minutes into his first team players.
