Will They Stay Or Will They Go?

Rotherham United are looking to next season and preparing just in case the players out of contract this summer decide to go elsewhere.

The players in question are Matt Crooks, Matt Olosunde, Clark Robertson and Michael Smith with most of them playing a big part already this season and are expected to be called upon to play an even bigger part in the coming month.

Millers Manager Paul Warne has already had preliminary talks with the four with the players saying they are happy to talk about their futures at the end of the season. Which, I suppose is only to be expected with Rotherham in the position they are in at the moment. These players have, mostly, proved themselves in the Championship and will rightly want to stay there and while I’m quite sure they will re-sign for Rotherham if we beat the drop it would probably be a different matter if we should end up playing next season back in League One.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post the Gaffer said he knows the lads have that right going on to say, ‘I understand it from their point of view but by the time they come back to me and I have replaced them then they know that risk as well.’

Crooks joined the Millers in January 2019 and has scored seven goals in thirty-three appearances this season, Olosunde has played in twenty-seven games this season having come on a ‘free’ from Manchester United, hampered by injuries Robertson, who came in the summer of 2018 from Blackpool, has managed thirteen appearances this season while Smith is top scorer for the Millers this season with nine goals from thirty-four games signing in January 2018 from Bury.

Will they stay or will they go? Should we be looking to replace them regardless? What are your thoughts?
