Which Millers Are On The Injury List?

|

Rotherham United haven’t had the best of luck with injuries so far this season – but how are our injured players fairing now?

Going into the World Cup break the Millers had Tolaji Bola, Peter Kioso, Shane Ferguson, Jamie McCart and Georgie Kelly on the sidelines. Plus we also have striker Conor Washington who we are told really needs an operation and loanee Grant Hall who was classed as ‘not fit’ for the Luton game.

Defender Bola arrived at the New York Stadium in the summer of 2021 making thirteen appearances in that first season but has managed just forty minutes in two games since the start of this season. His latest injury is a quad problem it seems.

Shane Ferguson has been suffering with a groin injury his last game being in our four-two home loss to Hull City while Georgie Kelly who has scored three times in seventeen games, the majority of those seeing him come off the bench, lasted less than ten minutes in our last home game when Norwich City were the visitors. He came on as a sub for Conor Washington and had to be subbed himself before half-time limped off with a torn hamstring. The latest seems to be that he might not make it back for the Bristol City game which is the first one back after the break.

Another defender, Kioso, joined the Millers in the summer and was forced off in just his second game with a groin injury which kept him out until November when he started the home game against Norwich and away games at Bramall Lane and at Luton, the latter seeing him missing the second half and in a boot with it appearing to be an ankle injury.

Then there’s central defender Jamie McCart who started two League Cup games and came off the bench for five Championship games. The twenty-five year old Scot was named in the squad for our game at Burnley but pulled up in the warm-up with what was described as ‘a strain’ though we haven’t seen him in the squad since.

Matt Taylor has taken the squad to Cyprus for a training camp and it could be, that after having a break, the injured players could be fit and ready to start re-start the season. I’m just hoping we don’t come back with more injuries.

Up The Millers.
