Rotherham United striker Michael Smith has been awarded the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for October.

Smudge scored six goals in six games for the Millers last month, taking his total to thirteen so far this season – already three more than he scored all last season.

The thirty year old spent his youth career with Wallsend Boys Club before joining Darlington in 2010. The following season he moved to Charlton Athletic spending most of his time out on loan until January 2014 saw him join Swindon Town scoring twice on his debut for the Robins. After a successful loan spell with Portsmouth Michael signed a contract with them in the summer of 2016 and after a loan spell with Northampton Town he then moved to Bury before moving to the New York Stadium five months later.

Michael has also been awarded the October League One PFA Vertu Motors Fans Player of the Month award.

Well Done, Smudge!
