Warne Relieved To Get Things Sorted

|

For Rotherham United ManagerPaul Warne it was quite a normal day until around half-past three when it was announced that the Millers had been promoted to the Championship in second place behind Coventry City.

Not a football has been kicked among the Millers since the beginning of March when the coronavirus brought everything to a halt and this probably wasn’t the way any of us would have chosen to end the season but it is what it is and we can start to pump it up at last.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Gaffer said it was a ‘bit strange’ to get into the Championship this way saying, ‘it’s a bit surreal.’

This season has been a sad year for a lot of people involved with Rotherham United and, ironically, (or maybe not) today is the first anniversary of Paul Warne’s dad’s death so I feel it’s really good to end this season, albeit early, on a happy note..

‘Although I couldn’t say it publicly at the time, ‘ the Gaffer said, ‘after the first three or four weeks when it didn’t look like we were coming back to play football I think the action that’s been taken was the right one with the only other option being to null and void the season. There wasn’t an ideal solution for everyone and I feel for Tranmere because to go down like they have is poor and there are clubs just outside the play-offs who will be disappointed. It wasn’t just our vote that sent us up it’s the majority and we go up endorsed by the fact it was what the majority of the clubs in the league wanted us to do. Don’t get me wrong I’d much rather have finished it on the football pitch but it’s nobody’s fault.

The Millers now have to prove that we deserve to be in the Championship and Warney and his back room staff now have the time they need to get ready for next season, whenever that may be, and adapt to what may be thrown at the team next season, probably playing the first games behind closed doors which they will have to get used to.

Whatever happens The Millers ARE Going Up!

Stay Safe.

Up The Millers!
