Warne ‘I Can’t Ask For Any More’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne took charge of his two hundredth Millers game this evening seeing six goals, missed chances and balls hit posts saying that it was a ‘good game for the neutral’.

‘I thought we created some good chances in the first half,’ the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield, ‘and we tried to press a bit higher in the second half and possibly could have won the game with the chances we missed.

‘At one down most Rotherham fans would probably have taken a point but from my point of view I thought there was a good chance of three. But a three-all draw at home against Stoke isn’t a bad result.

‘I idolise my team and I’m really proud of the group. I’ve really enjoyed watching them play tonight against a team who I think have the best assembled squad in the league. They’ve left everything on the pitch tonight and I can’t ask for any more.’

Warney made the substitutions late on this evening and he says it’s because he didn’t think any of the lads were having a bad game. And they weren’t. When I saw subs getting ready I pulled a face thinking this could change things but, to be honest, it didn’t really. We still fought, we still pushed forward when possible, we still tried to score.

‘It’s sad that there wasn’t a full house to get behind the teams,’ the Gaffer said, ‘because I think both teams would have got a standing ovation.’

They certainly would have.
