Warne ‘Hugely Disappointed’ Not To Get Anything

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said that the Millers have ‘fifteen cup finals’ left this season after yet another one-nil defeat, this time to Reading.

Speaking to iFOLLOW the Millers Boss said, ‘We started the game OK and then the injury to Robbo (Clark Robertson) made us change our shape which was a big blow.’

Have to agree. I thought we started quite well but the Robertson injury, which is probably a hamstring problem, meant we had players playing our of position and already light with only seven on the bench there didn’t seem a way we could change it.

‘Although we came in at one-down we probably still had the best chances of the half which is the frustrating thing for me,’ the Gaffer said.

We did have chances, in both halves, and again we didn’t take them. My broken record is being played again when I say in the Championship, with our resources, we need to take every chance we have.

‘There were some good performances,’ Warney said mentioning Angus MacDonald, Matt Olosunde and Flo Jozefzoon, who came off the bench, ‘but we didn’t have the cutting edge to get the goal.

‘But we are running out of games. I can’t come out after every game saying how well we’ve done when we’ve not picked up points.

‘Overall today it was a battling performance against a team who are in the top six but I’m hugely disappointed we have come away with nothing. If you are going to win games at this level you are going to have to take the chances – the best teams do.

‘It’s going to be a tough run-in.’

Isn’t it just.
