Rotherham United’s search for a new manager might not be as quick as some of us first thought.

The club have announced, today, that in the interim, trio Wayne Carlisle, Dan Green and Scott Brown will be taking care of first team affairs.

Former midfielder Wayne joined Matt Taylor as his assistant when he moved to the New York Stadium in October last year, Scott became the goalkeeping coach in the November while Dan joined in the summer as First Team Coach.

Supporting the three will be Head of Recruitment Rob Scott both on and off the field.

Today’s favourite to become new Manager is former Manager Steve Evans who is currently doing the job for League One outfit Stevenage.  He was with the Millers from April 2012 until the end of September 2015 in which time he took Rotherham to back-to-back promotion and kept the Millers in the Championship with a game to spare leaving because ‘the management and owners wanted to take the club in different directions’ (whatever that meant).

It seems unusual to place trust in the allies of the sacked Manager. They either disagreed with Tayors approach or were complicit with its application. What will be different with the same coaches? The only difference will be Rob Scott in an overseeing role. Does this open the door for a Rob Scott/Paul Hirst renewed partnership.Scott has the ability and knowledge with his loyalty to the club unquestioned. I am surprised John Breckin hasn’t got involved again with a trio of committed old boys the future could be brighter. I reckon that the signing of Nombe by Taylor at the record price paid may not have been brokered by Scott . Nombe”s poor start would then have added to Taylors downfall. It’s all really speculation but these are interesting thoughts.

I had just imagined that the three had gone too although hadn’t seen anything and was obviously wrong. I’m surprised, Bryan, that one name I’ve not seen linked with the job was Hursty.
