Rotherham United’s fate was finally sealed last night after a one-nil home loss to fellow strugglers Plymouth Argyle – but what about those stats?
Possession was shared equally between the sides while the Millers were slightly better in all the duels and also in the aerial duels (fifty two per cent to forty eight) while Plymouth won nine corners to Rotherham’s four.
Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at fifty-nine per cent, four per cent less than our visitors while we had a seventy-one per cent passing accuracy over all.
In attack the Millers had eleven shots at goal, six from outside the box, two of which were on target with Argyle having eleven on target from twenty-one shots.
The Millers tackle success rate came out at fifty-eight per cent, Plymouth’s sixty-four while Argyle gave away eleven fouls to our nine. There were no cards in the game last night.
It wasn’t a good game – the Head Coach said it was stop-start but I think it was just some poor and sloppy play – with both teams making silly mistakes which, I suppose, could be put down to nerves. A number of times I believe (sitting in the stands, which is obviously different to being on the pitch) we could have got the ball moving quicker, with players taking the wrong option, not seeing a ‘free’ player.
I’d like to think that for the last few games ALL our players will pull on that shirt with pride and show us, the fans, what they are made of.
