Rotherham United Manager Matt Taylor gave the players a couple of days off at the beginning of the International break but they were back in and working hard after that.

Speaking to iFollow the Millers Boss said given the efforts the lads put last weekend he thought it was the right thing to do.

‘It’s rest and recuperation away from the training ground and often the players who play at the weekend don’t do too much on the Monday anyway so it was only one training day they missed and I’ve been pleased with the way they’ve come back in and worked especially in the unexpected heat,’ Matt said.

‘It’s actually probably a shame we didn’t get to come in Monday morning because the training ground is always a more positive environment after a win. But you could sense their excitement about putting in a good performance against a very good team. It’s good for our confidence levels but irrelevant if we don’t back it with more points on the board.

‘We’ve now got to ramp things up going into a three game week.’

Asked about on loan defender Dexter Lembikisa who turned down the chance to join the Jamaican team during the International Break, the Manager said, ‘He’s had a foot problem for a few weeks now. He’s got a bit of bone bruising. But we didn’t pull him out it was Wolves’ decision and his own decision but we all felt it was the right thing to do. He’s not been on his feet this week but will start training again next week. You do want your players to go away and get that international experience but, this time, for Dexter, it wasn’t the right time.’

Good news coming from the injured players at the New York Stadium is that Hakeem Odoffin and Georgie Kelly could be involved in some capacity when this break is over while Lee Peltier isn’t too far off either. Jamie Lindsay has had an injection in an Achilles heel problem, which might keep him out a further two weeks or so while Grant Hall isn’t far away.
