Rumours, Rumours, Rumours Again

What rumours have we heard this week?

The main one’s seem to be about striker Michael Smith who the Football League Hub seem to think is interesting Ipswich Town, – would be very surprised at that with Freddie Ladapo just signing for them – Middlesbrough and Cardiff City. Of those three I could understand ‘Boro wanting him to team back up with Matt Crooks and possibly Cardiff as they seem to like ex-Millers. Meanwhile the Football League World are saying that our neighbours Sheffield Wednesday would like him – well, what do we make of that?!  I, for one, would be disappointed if he left for a lower league side.

Talking of neighbours (are we all sad that it’s leaving our screens …) I’ve also seen that there is a rumour that Sheffield United are looking at Ben Wiles as, apparently, he would ‘fit Paul Heckingbottom’s style of play’. Well, I’m sure he still fits ours too. There have also been rumbles that a West Yorkshire side are going to make a cheeky offer for Ben.

Angus MacDonald was released at the end of the season and his agent is saying that he is in talks with Championship clubs. The twenty-nine year old himself told the Rotherham Advertiser that it would be ‘amazing to play against Rotherham in the Championship and come up against some familiar faces’. Personally, I’m not really sure how to take that statement.

Meanwhile back at the New York Stadium there are thoughts that we are one of the clubs interested in forward Tom Barkhuizen of Preston.

So, are any of these rumours true? Do we take them with a pinch of salt? Time, as they say, will tell.
