Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said that there were positives to take from today’s loss to Fulham that ultimately saw them relegated to League One.

‘I’m not going to stand here and say everything`s rosy but the majority of the team who were on the pitch today will be here next season and they are a good group to work with.’

Saying that one of the positives to come out of today’s game was Carlton Morris who was making his home debut.

Joining on loan in January from Norwich the forward was plagued with injury so didn’t arrive until a couple of weeks ago. He played twenty minutes against QPR coming off the bench before starting this afternoons game and playing over an hour.

‘I thought he grew into the game,’ Warney told Radio Sheffield.

‘Initially after ten minutes I thought he was blowing through lack of match practice because he hasn’t played for three months. But I thought he got stronger and his decisions on the ball were good. I feel a bit sorry for him because we didn’t create a good chance for him to score.

‘As a centre-forward its not your dream to have to chase back all the time and he did that as best he could.

‘He’s been brilliant behind the scenes and has been enjoying the training and I was pleased with him today.’

Going on to speak about his other forward who replaced Morris today, Jerry Yates Warney said, ‘Jerry has been doing well.

‘He’s like a man in a boys body really. He went on today and I thought he caused problems as did Fordey (Anthony Forde). We’ve not had Darnell Fisher for a few weeks and he played but when he started to tighten up I put Ben Purrington on who I thought also did well.

‘So there are positives.’

The Millers might be relegated but there are still seven games to play with Warney saying, ‘I’d like to go gung-ho and give younger lads a chance and I will try and do that, especially with Alex Bray whose been playing really well in the Reserves.

‘But I don’t want to go crazy then take a five- or six-nil drumming. I’m trying to get the lads to be competitive but I will probably make more ambitious subs as the games go on.

‘I don’t want these last seven games to be an end note to a bad season. I want something positive to come out of them. They are a good motivated group and I appreciate their efforts but they just haven’t been good enough.’
