Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne says that looking back to the two-nil loss at Southend last weekend the pitch conditions probably had something to do with it.

Speaking to iFOLLOW the Millers Boss said, ‘I just don’t think we got used to the conditions as quickly as Southend did but, of course, it’s their pitch and they know how to play on it. It wasn’t ideal for our players to run with the ball at all.

‘We didn’t start the game well but I thought we did enough in the second half to get a point. Football is what it is and we came away with nothing

‘Their first goal was a big goal which, unfortunately was self-induced. Our chances didn’t go in and we probably didn’t defend as well as we have over previous weeks.

The Millers last two games have been away from home with Warney saying, ‘It will be nice to play in front of our home fans again on a decent pitch.’
