Rotherham United lost defender Shaun Cummings in the first half of today’s win over Bury when he had to go off with an injury.

‘The lads are slowly getting my message,’ Millers Manager Paul Warne told Radio Sheffield.

‘That’s if you aren’t one hundred per cent then you don’t play. I’m pleased he did come off because it’s no good playing on and pulling your hamstring.

‘Shaun said he felt like he was tightening up so he came off as a precaution. Though, realistically, he’ll probably not play on Tuesday night. He’s a clever lad and I think he’s done well since he came in.

‘It wasn’t a massive decision for me to put Will (Vaulks) at right-back, although, because he likes to get forward, it’s heart attack central for me.’

Going on to talk about Semi Ajayi who wasn’t even on the bench today, Warney said, ‘I dropped him.

‘He made a mistake for a goal and I won’t tolerate it. I’ve got other players to come in.’

And what about Marek Rodak coming in relegating Richard O’Donnell to the bench?

‘I told him I was bringing Rodak in to play,’ Warney said. ‘And he could play the next five games before he goes off on International duty again. I told Rich he’d have to prove to me that he is the number one.

‘If he performs better than the other ‘keepers in training then I’ll give it back to him. He’s a great kid and I’ve told him to train with a smile on his face and he knows he’s got to fight to get his shirt back.’
