Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told iFOLLOW that it was ‘ace’ after his Millers team got through to the next round of the Carabao Cup.

Speaking after the two-one victory over Lincoln City at the New York Stadium this evening Warney said, ‘It was a real end-to-end cup game with both teams wanting the win. It was a real competitive game.

‘I’d like to think the team can take confidence from the win. I thought our forward play was excellent tonight and that Kieffer (Moore) and Procts (Jamie Proctor) were a real handful. I thought Procts goal wasn’t bad and I really liked Fordey’s (Anthony Forde) goal because it was really good team play. Fordey near scored with a free-kick at the end which would have been lovely for him because he’s been practising them.

‘I was pleased with the lads who came in and there was some really good performances today. It was nice for Frecks (Lee Frecklington) who I took off near the end and he got an ovation from both sets of fans and he played well. I thought Joe Newell was outstanding again at times today.

‘I was pleased with our attacking play but not so keen on our defending play and we need to work on that. I was disappointed with the goal we conceded because it was an easy ball to clear – either the ‘keeper comes out and clears the lot of Semi (Ajayi) clears it for a throw-in. It wasn’t a game for pretty football tonight, it was wet and slippy so any chance you get to clear it then do that. That goal was pretty disgusting.’
