RUFC – Stats Millers v Gillingham

|

The Millers took a big step towards securing a place in a play-off spot with a deserved one-nil win over the Gills last night at the Priestfield Stadium.

An away game in Gillingham isn’t always the best to go to but an away game in Gillingham on a Tuesday night is one that you’d definitely think twice about. So, firstly let me applaud the one hundred and sixty plus souls who made that long trek down to Priestfield yesterday. And I’m pleased the Millers got you all three points for your efforts with a one-nil win

Yes, it should have been more, the Millers should have been out of sight in the first forty-five minutes with chance after chance going begging and I really hope these missed chances aren’t going to come back and bite us on the backside.

But, of course, there were positives. A second consecutive clean sheet away from home is nothing to be sniffed at, meaning our defenders were again solid last night. And although we might not have taken all our chances, our front men were actually getting into good positions to get the chance.

Onto Saturday and our home game with Bristol Rovers where, I think, a point would see us cement our place in the play-offs.
