Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott said his team showed character after twice coming behind to get a point against Barnet at Don Valley this afternoon.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the game, Scott said, ‘Giving the way we played in the first forty-five minutes it was pleasing to get a point from the game today.

‘We started sloppy and we started slow and it wasn`t our tempo to the game and what was disappointing was that we`d warned the players that the expectation was there today and we needed to respond and we didn`t do that in the first half. Then we got back into the game and a sloppy piece of defending allowed them to get the penalty and we had to fight back again. We gave the ball away very, very cheaply today which allowed them to have the impedes and too much time.

‘I made a couple of changes at half-time and changed it around a little bit to give us a bit more threat and ability to pressure them but we still gave the ball away in poor areas. We didn`t do things as we have been doing and individuals started to do their own thing and that`s when we started to fall down.`

Asked about the penalty for Barnet, Scott said, ‘No complaints it was a penalty. It was a disappointment because we had possession of the ball, didn`t keep it and then five seconds later they get a penalty.

‘We might have had a penalty but you don`t really know. We had a couple of chances, one from Alfie when the ball wouldn`t sit down for him and a couple that whizzed across the six yard box that the ‘keeper did well with and we hit the bar as well. Attacking wise we were much more potent in the second half and restricted them to very few chances.

‘But it was terrific character from the players to keep responding like they have done and it shows that there is a lot of spirit in the camp, but I`d rather see it from the off and we`ve made it very clear in the dressing room that that sort of performance isn`t going to be accepted.

‘But we are unbeaten after four games and we`ve got ten points and, before the season started, I would have thought we would have taken that.’
