Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says that today’s performance was ‘unacceptable.’

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the four-nil defeat to Southend at Don Valley, Scott said, ‘We got out fought, out run and they were better in every department and for me it’s alarming that I’ve got to admit to that, but I’m not going to hide away from the fact that we were second best everywhere.’

It was suggested that it was the defence again that let the side down, and Scott said, ‘It’s the same things over and over again and it’s embarrassing because it looks like we don’t work on it. Amazingly we’ve actually been working on everything that happened today. Even at half-time we talked about the throw-ins, which we’ve been saying all week, and two minutes into the second half we don’t do what I’ve asked the lads to do. And that’s a point we are going to have to look at. And, people who aren’t going to do exactly what I’ve told them to do, whether they are new or have been here a while, aren’t going to play. And certainly, if there are players who played today and don’t play next week, they shouldn’t be coming on my door and asking why.

‘It’s only a blip if we react to it or win the next game or perform better which we’ve got to do.

‘We will be in tomorrow and I’ll be making sure that people are aware of exactly what’s happened today. They have been told and if they aren’t grasping it then they are obviously not capable of playing at the moment.’
