Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott thought that the Tuesday night game against League One outfit, Sheffield Wednesday, was a good work out.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the two-one loss at Don Valley, Scott said, ‘They are a big, strong, powerful side and it was a tough test for us.

‘It was disappointing to concede from two set-pieces because, although they were big lads, we didn`t defend that well. But we did score a good goal ourselves and we kept going and the fitness was good. There were too many unforced errors but it`s still early days and we`re learning what works and doesn`t work and there was some great stuff and some not so great stuff.

‘It`s important that we get the training sessions in and we trained hard on Monday and yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon and maybe they looked a bit leggy towards the end. A lot of players got ninety minutes today, and looked comfortable with it, and that`s an important part of our pre-season.’

Ryan Cresswell and Troy Brown were two who got a full ninety-minutes and Scott said, ‘They were up against a couple of tough players and it was a difficult test for them and I thought they coped reasonably well.

‘Andy Warrington made some fantastic saves in goal and was excellent and him and Conrad, who played the first forty-five minutes, looked very solid.

‘I thought Jeff Smith did well today and he`s coming to Portugal with us. He stuck at the task and has good energy and for someone who hasn`t done any work before he came to us he`s shown up well and has fitted in nicely.`

‘Everyone has played a part in the last two games and today was a good chance for me to look at players in different positions and to get minutes under their belts.`
