The referee chosen to officiate Rotherham United’s League 2 clash with Grimsby Town at Don Valley this Saturday is….

CLIVE W OLIVER from Ashington, Northumberland

Born on 30th June 1962, Clive qualified as a referee in 1990.
He progressed through the Northern League before becoming a Football League assistant Referee in 1998.
He was promoted to the National list of Referee’s in 2004.

Clive’s first ever FL appointment was on Saturday August 7th 2004, when he took charge of Mansfield’s 2-0 home defeat to Bristol Rovers.
It wasn’t until the 90th minute of that game that he showed his first yellow…this going to Rovers’ Ali Gibb for timewasting.
His first red came on December 28th 2004, as Sc**thorpe’s Steve Torpey was ordered off following a tussle with Notts County’s Mike Whitlow during their goalless draw.

It will be Clive’s 7th game involving the Millers, with the record standing level with 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats.
