As we are playing Lincoln City next Saturday I managed to track down a little (well I don’t know if he is or not!) Imp who obligingly answered our questions…

What is your name and how long have you supported your team?

My real name is Neil Gentleman-Hobbs.
Have been supporting the Imps since moving up from Oxford. Have been a season ticket holder in the
Stacey West home end for two seasons now.

Has your season gone the way you expected it to so far?

No in a word. We felt the writing was on the wall and pressed for changes. I christened Jacko the Lord of the Imps and he has proved to be our Saviour. The five wins on the spin has been inspired by our siege
mentality.

How do you think your team will line up against The Millers?

We are playing a settled side at the moment, but we are so jekyl and hide that even the same 11 men change
throughout a match.

Who is your best player?

Since The Lord of The Imps cancer prognosis, all 14 have been heroes. Frecktanian the midfield
musketeer is head and shoulders above the others. Cultured, creative, a midus. He is the wily midfield general in the body of a young man.

Who is the best player you have ever seen at your club?

Having been through the History books there have been so many. In the flesh it has to be Frecklington. He will go on to become our first million man.

Who could you gladly do without!?

Up until Christmas all of them. However the siege mentality has more than made up for any talent deficiencies. Jacko has rid us of the dead wood in every respect.

If there was one thing you could change about your club, what would it be?

The Echo stand. It is a carbunkle on the a*se of an otherwise homely tidy modern stadium.

What is the best game you have ever seen involving your club?

The end to end stuff we witness on a regular basis makes that hard. Bristol Rovers in that Playoff
defeat. Ok so they got five but we kept going. Walsall 2-2, at home last season, the 2-3 home defeat to MK Dons. The pomp and splendour of the 7-1 romp over Rochdale. We were the passing princes that day, free
flowing fabulous football with 3 goal Forester afire. At the End when Stallardicus was interviewed,
Parky said, ‘You could have had 10.’ A jovial Stallard replied, ‘Oh sorry was 7 not enough for you!’

Who is the best opposing team you have ever seen?

Walsall last year. We were 2 up and on fire. They came back to 2-2. Both teams deserved the three points that
night.

What is the best thing you have ever eaten/drunk at a football match?

Kid Kebab do a shwarma Kebab near Fulham’s ground (shoulder of lamb)Over the years, done sushi, Dim sum
and bubbly on England and Corporate nights but hate going in boxes though. Any ground with a decent mixed kebab with chilli, and there are two great ones in Lincoln High Street. Got any decent ones?

Drink wise extra cold Guinness goes down the same way wherever after the first 3 or 4.

Thanks 4 havin’ me, Cheers Gentleman

Thanks a lot for that Gentleman – and I’ll find out about the kebabs round here for you! Oh, and spill the beans, which club gave you sushi!!!

I think Neil took you wrong, INSIDE grounds, Lincoln’s hot pork and stuffing rolls take some beating. 😉

Oh, now I had a hot pork and stuffing and apple sauce sarnie somewhere – it could have been Lincoln! Though think it was Notts County.

  • zipadeedoodah says:

That was in the social club at Forest Green Caz.
They had the large portions of Beef stew as well which i only just resisted so i’d have more room for ale.

No, I know I was with Oli’s nan and Bez wasn’t there – and am sure it was Notts County, Zip. Bez came and met us at Notts County and Oli’s nan didn’t go to Forest Green. The Lincoln lot seem to think it was Lincoln I might have had it you know!

If it was Counteh, try ours next time and compare.
The Lincolnshire sausage and onions (around a foot long!) is quite good too.
