Rotherham United midfielder – and maybe now new penalty taker – Joe Newell‘s contract is up in the summer with talks on their way to review that.

Joe joined the Millers from Peterborough in August 2015 on a three year deal and has scored thirteen goals so far, his last one being his first penalty to win the game for the Millers on Saturday – and he also helped make the first one scored by Michael Smith.

We’ve been told in the past week or so that talks are in the offing with the twenty-four year old telling iFOLLOW ‘The Gaffer has been in touch with me over the last months about it but the January window came first with them saying they wanted to get things sorted there first.

‘I’ve been here three years and I’ve loved my time at Rotherham.

‘I think my agent will be talking to him in the next few days. I would like it resolved earlier rather than later. So we’ll see what happens.’

Let’s hope it is sorted sooner rather than later, get it out of the way so that he’s settled and knows where he is next season – and let’s also hoping it’s still as a Rotherham United player.
