RUFC – John Reid A True Fan!

It`s with great sadness that we’ve read of the death, following a short illness, of John Reid.

John has supported the Millers for many years and could always be seen at Millmoor, Don Valley and later at New York Stadium. In spite of his physical problems, he did what he could to raise money for the club in the administration days.


Before he became wheelchair bound, John was a keen sportsman. I often saw him and his brother running and passing a football along the length of our street. Even after his problems began he`d join in during the summer with those endless 14-a-side cricket matches.

John developed his own style of bowling from his chair and could generate a fair speed. John bowled for both sides. It didn’t matter to us as we were all playing together.
