The Millers take on the Terriers in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Don Valley

Rotherham United welcome Huddersfield Town to Don Valley on Tuesday night in the first round of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.

The Millers haven`t done that well against the Terriers in the past, in forty-seven meetings the South Yorkshire side have only won nine, with the Terriers winning twenty-five.

The last time these two met in a cup competition was in August 1987 in the first round of the League Cup. The game was 4-4 at Millmoor but the second leg was won by Rotherham 3-1, making them winners by seven goals to five.

The last time the teams met was in League One in February 2007 at Millmoor. Luke Beckett put the visitors one up in the first three minutes only for the Millers to be awarded a penalty on the half hour mark which resulted in Andy Holdsworth getting a red card and Chris O`Grady converting the penalty. Beckett struck again a minute after half-time and Michael Collins made it three on fifty-nine minutes. Delroy Facey pulled one back for the Millers twelve minutes later. Ian Henderson, on loan to Rotherham from Norwich, got a second yellow and therefore a red from referee Eddie Ilderton three minutes from time.

Form guide goes out of the window in these competitions, I expect That RU will not be wanting to sustain too many injuries for fear of ruining their great start to the season, so this game might be littered with reserves on the verge of the first team. MR will want a look at any potential he has in this capacity in a competetive game.

We’ve already got the injuries, Buzz. I don’t think we will be resting too many players tbh
