Rotherham United loanee, Gavin Gunning is hoping to leave the club on a high note at Wembley on Sunday.

Gavin, on loan from Blackburn Rovers, has played twenty-three times for the Millers and has made a big impact on the fans.

He was a big doubt for the play-offs because he was wanted by his country, the Republic of Ireland, to captain their under 19’s in a tournament in Croatia. But, the Irish FA and Millers sorted it out and the nineteen year old has stopped here to help the Millers get to Wembley.

Speaking to Dom Howson of The Star, Gavin said, ‘I’ve been pleased with my performances and hopefully, when I get back to Blackburn, I’ll be able to get in the team there.

‘It’s been brilliant at Rotherham and I have enjoyed every minute. I would love to get Rotherham promoted then force my way into the first team at Blackburn. If not, then I’d be happy to come back here on loan.

‘I don’t see any reason why we can’t beat Dagenham especially if we play the way we did at Don Valley against Aldershot. The scenes of the fans invading the pitch at the end of that game will stay with me forever. Hopefully, we will give them plenty to shout about at Wembley.’
