Despite taking an early lead, thanks to a Freddie Ladapo goal, Rotherham United were on the losing end of a two-one score line at the New York Stadium yesterday afternoon.
It was a good game for a neutral and a good spectacle for the Championship and one that the stats say Norwich had sixty-three per cent possession to the Millers’ thirty-seven – well, I agree City probably had more possession but I don’t think those figures are correct – do you?
The duels success rate was equal with Rotherham winning fifty-four per cent of the aerial challenges while having seven corners, one more than the visitors.
Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at fifty-seven per cent while the Canaries was sixty-six per cent.
Rotherham had three shots on target from fourteen while Norwich had twenty-one shots, seven which were on target. We conceded eighteen fouls to the twelve conceded by Norwich and both teams had one player yellow carded while Rotherham saw Angus MacDonald sent off.
We actually did OK and on another day …. well, actually, we seem to do this time and time again don’t we, go in front and then either draw or lose. Yet, I think our defence is mostly fine, a bit naïve at times and that’s something that probably needs addressing.
Do I think we deserved a point? On the whole, yes. Do I think we need to learn how to hang on? Too right I do.
We are in the second tier of English football and I want to think we belong here. If we do then one thing we need to do is, when we score first, hold on to the lead.

an early history which needs to stop , loosing games in the last minutes always in extra time, choose a penalty taker , or two to choose from , improve pre game notice ,ie, its always going to be a tough game , we hear it every time from the manager, the opposition know as much about you , as you know about them ,maybe, play to your streangths , when you lose its because you have been beaten, but it should not be in extra time as in recent games , what needs to be done to make some changes ,a new manager , a new assistant manager , i dont think so , but they are where the answers must come from starting next game onwards they have the team they wanted , now lets prove it
I just don’t want us to get into that ‘well it’s the last few minutes and they are going to score’ frame of mind. We needed another goal and the penalty would have been it. The problem is I always think we are going to ‘need another goal’ as we aren’t a one-nil win team. If we get a pen tonight will Freddie take it? If it’s almost the same team as Saturday then perhaps there is only him who can? You are correct Jeff, it has to be stopped now.
