Rotherham United have signed American right back Matthew Olosunde who was released by Manchester United in June- subject to EFL and FA ratification.

Born in Philadelphia the twenty-one-year-old came through the New York Red Bulls playing for their U16 and U18 teams before moving up to the Reserve side in August 2016. He left the Bulls in 2015 to further his education at Duke University.

The rumours were out in January 2016 saying that Matthew had joined Manchester United with it being made official in March, initially joining the U18’s. The beginning of the 2016/17 season saw him promoted to their U23 set-up making eighteen appearances in the Premier League 2 winning the clubs April Goal of the Month for a great solo effort against Real Salt Lake in the Dallas Cup.

Although never making an appearance for United’s first team he did travel with them a couple of times in May 2017.

As well as U17, U20 and U23 caps for the United States International side Matthew made his senior debut in a friendly against Bolivia in May this year.

Matthew has signed a two year deal with the Millers.

All at Vital Rotherham welcome Matthew to the New York Stadium.
