Rotherham United came away from Swansea with no points this afternoon but what made it worse was that it was an own goal that gave the Swans the win.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the defeat, Millers Head Coach Leam Richardson said Andy Rinomhota’s own goal was ‘an honest mistake’. And, of course it was. He didn’t mean to head it in his own net and these things happen, now the lad has to forget about it and move on.

‘Andy is a loan player, who has committed himself to the club and made himself available every single game,’ his manager said. ‘To be fair all the loan players have made themselves available and they aren’t our players but they’ve put themselves at the front every single game.

‘We played Wednesday night, got back late, got straight back on the coach again early Friday to come to another highly rated team in Swansea City and in both games gave a good account of ourselves.

‘We had to work hard against the ball but we were wasteful in possession in the first half. What we lack in certain areas we make up for in work ethic and endeavour.

‘And credit to the fans for coming. You want to put in a performance for them and you can see how much it means to them clapping the players off. ‘

Tom Eaves came off the subs bench on the seventy-second minute and came close to equalising late in the game with Leam saying, ‘When it’s in there you think it’s a goal but it wasn’t to be.’
