Rotherham United’s first away game of the season sees them travel to the DW Stadium to take on Wigan Athletic when Robert Lewis from Shropshire has the whistle.

Robert was last in charge of a Millers game back in January 2018 when we travelled to Boundary Park to take on Oldham Athletic. The game ended one-all, both goals coming in the first half, Ryan Williams scoring for Rotherham and Craig Davies replying for the hosts.

He had also been in charge of our game earlier that season away at Fleetwood, which Rotherham lost two-nil followed by our Checkatrade game away at Bradford in the November when goals from Jerry Yates, Jonson Clarke-Harris (from the penalty spot) and Richie Towell gave us a three-nil win.

His first time in charge of a Millers game was at Don Valley in November 2010 when Northampton were the visitors. Ryan Taylor and Marcus Marshall put the Milers two up in nineteen minutes but the Cobblers scored two goals in two minutes to make it two-two five minutes later. Abdul Osman and Andy Holt got the visitors goals. That day Rob showed yellow cards to Jamie Annerson, Kevin Ellison and Mark Bradley of the Millers and Northampton’s Marcus Hall and Dean Beckworth.

Rob was in charge of two Millers games the following season. Firstly our game at Sixfields when Gareth Evans put Rotherham in front on just two minutes then a bizarre own goal from Conrad Logan on twenty-four minutes gave the Cobblers a share of the points. He was then in charge of our game with Bristol Rovers in February when a goal in the final minute of the game gave Rovers the three points.

Rob came to the New York Stadium to take charge of our game against Wycombe Wanderers in November 2012. Daniel Nardiello scored in the opening minute only for Dave Winfield to equalise just before the half-hour mark. Six minutes later Mark Bradley put the Millers back in front but two goals in the second half from Matt McClure sent Wycombe home with all three points.

December 2013 saw him in the middle for our League One game at Vale Park when Louis Dodds put the hosts in front on eight minutes with Kieran Agard seeing a penalty saved by Vale’s Sam Johnson after James Tavernier was bundled over in the box. On fifty-four minutes the Millers went down to ten when Claude Davies kicked out at former Miller Tom Pope and Pope made it worse for his former team when his flick on to Gavin Tomlin saw the Vale striker make it two-nil.

Last season Rob showed eighty-two yellow cards and four red ones in the thirty games he was in charge of.

Running the line on Saturday we have Lisa Rashid and Danny Gratton while the Fourth Official will be Elliott Swallow.
