Millers Linked With Centre-Back

|

It is being reported in various blogs, on the net and in the press that Rotherham United are close to making their first signing of the summer.

And that could well be Clark Robertston from Blackpool.

Despite being heavily linked with Sunderland, the twenty-four year old centre-back has stated that he wants to play at a higher level.

Well you don’t say! I’d be highly surprised if a footballer (or any sportsman for that matter) actually said, ‘no it’s OK I’ll go to a team in a lower division if that’s alright with you’.

Although, I don’t think that would be a bad thing sometimes. I like to see players who have worked their way up particularly through a youth scheme and then onto better things with that team as well as working their way up through the divisions. But, let’s be honest that doesn’t happen very often these days, if at all.

Born in Aberdeen Robertson signing for his home club in the summer of 2009 and went on to play over fifty times for the Dons before being released in 2015 and signing for Blackpool. Last season he made forty appearances for the Seasiders, including two against the Millers, scoring three times as well as being named Blackpool’s Player of the Season.

Robertson isn’t the only defender that Rotherham are supposedly interested in as we told you earlier this week we could also be taking an interest in
Cian Bolger.

Whether either/or/both arrive at the New York Stadium awaits to be seen.
