Millers – Finally – Name New Boss

|

Rotherham United have filled their vacant managerial position by fetching in Matt Taylor who has brought in Wayne Carlisle as his assistant.

Although the now forty year old began his career in goal and Burscough to an FA Trophy win over Tamworth in 2003 Matt eventually went on to play for Sheffield Hallam University as a centre-back where he also played for the English and British University teams. He went on to play for Team Bath while studying at Bath University in a side that just missed out on promotion from the Southern League Premier Division. From there he joined Exeter City helping them to League Two in his first season and the next season up to League One. He made over one hundred and sixty appearances for the Grecians before joining Charlton Athletic in 2011 and from there had a season with Bradford City. After West Yorkshire he played for Cheltenham Town, Newport County and Bath City as player/coach before hanging up his boots in 2016.

June 2018 saw him back at St James Park with Exeter City as Manager and was League Two Manager of the Month four times while guiding City into League One for the start of the current season where he leaves them in eleventh place.

All at Vital Rotherham welcome Matt to the New York Stadium.
