The last, and only, time the Millers won at Villa Park in the league was in October 1971. The score was two-one in this old Division Three game with Carl Gilbert and Trevor Phillips being Rotherham’s scorers on the day. Andy Lochhead replied for the hosts in front of over 30,000 fans. Villa ended that season top of Division Three, five points ahead of Brighton. The Millers finished fifth.
