Rotherham United will put their FA Cup game at The Etihad behind them when they travel to Portman Road in their next league encounter to take on Ipswich Town.

The Millers last visited Portman Road in October 2016. Freddie Sears gave the host the lead on three minutes but a goal from Danny Ward four minutes later made it one-all. Ward made it two-one to the Millers three minutes into the second half but a late goal from David McGoldrick made it two-two.

March 2016 saw a Leon Best goal a minute before half-time gave the Millers a one-nil win at Portman Road. Yellow cards on the day were for Greg Halford of the Millers and Jonas Knudsen of Ipswich.

The season before that game at Portman Road saw two goals in the opening six minutes win the game for the hosts. Daryl Murphy scored in three minutes and three minutes later David McGoldrick made it two-nil. Kari Arnason and Lee Frecklington saw yellow that afternoon.

Before that the Millers were last the visitors at Ipswich in April 2005 when Ian Westlake and Darren Bent put the hosts two up in the opening twenty-five minutes. Tony Thorpe made it two-one a minute later but in the second half Jim Magilton and Bent gave Ipswich their two goal advantage back. On the sixty-seventh minute Jamal Campbell-Ryce put in a sweet ball for Martin Butler to score and twelve minutes later a free-kick from Martin McIntosh made it interesting when it was deflected past Kelvin Davis in the home goal to make it four-three and, as much as they tried, the Millers couldn’t score another to get anything from the game. Unfortunately this saw the Millers become the first team relegated that season from the Championship with Ipswich moving into second place.
