Rotherham United make the journey to the Hawthorns to take on West Bromwich Albion for their next Championship fixture.
Goals from Jed Wallace, Grady Diangana and Brandon Thomas-Asante, who saw his penalty on seventy minutes kept out by Viktor Johansson but he was quick enough to reach the rebound and slot home to give the Baggies a three-nil win in December 2022 at the Hawthorns against Rotherham.
Rotherham were also at the Hawthorns in April 2019 knowing they needed to get at least a point to stay up. And they were on track when a Joe Newell cross was headed in on fifty minutes. A trailing leg from Michael Smith saw Dwight Gayle go over and referee Rob Jones giving a penalty which Jay Rodriguez duly put away. Two minutes later the Millers hopes of staying up were dashed when Akeem Harper was first to a loose ball and drilled home from distance for his first Baggies goal giving the hosts all three points.
February 2004 also saw the Millers at the Hawthorns in a Division One game when a Chris Sedgwick goal on seventy-three minutes, who caught Russell Hoult off his line to dip it over him, gave Rotherham all three points.
A Sunday in April 2002 saw Rotherham come away with a point from a West Brom who had won their previous five games and looking like they would be in the Premier League the next season. Bob Taylor gave the hosts the lead in the first half but a second half strike from Darren Byfield, who was making his Millers debut, gave Rotherham a point. It might have actually been two-two if linesman David Hines had actually seen that an eighty-first minutes shot from Jordao had gone over the line for the hosts before Chris Sedgwick cleared it while at the other end Sedgwick hit the post.
It was a Division Two game in October 1992 that the teams met for the first time in the league seeing a two-all draw with Mark Todd scoring both the Millers goals.
The game at the New York Stadium in December, which was Leam Richardson’s first in charge of the Millers, saw second half goals from Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace give the visitors all three points.
