Fifty Up For Smith

Rotherham United striker Michael Smith scored his fiftieth goal in a Millers shirt when he got the second of a two-nil win away at Hillsborough this afternoon.

‘It felt massive,’ the thirty year old told Radio Sheffield. ‘They (Sheffield Wednesday) hadn’t conceded in five games so we knew it was going to be tough but we managed to get the three points in the end.’

It hadn’t been a particularly good first half for the travelling Millers with Smudge saying, ‘the Manager got into us a bit a half-time, told us to up the ante and we got the two goals.’

Asked what it means for him to get fifty goals for Rotherham he said, ‘It felt massive and to score and celebrate in front of the travelling fans today was special. I hope we’ve managed to make some memories for our fans today.

‘I’m loving my football at the minute, I’m loving coming into work with a smile on my face. It’s a really good place to be at the minute.’

As well as getting goal fifty for Rotherham, twenty-one of those coming this season, Smudge picked up his second Sky Bet League One Player of the Month award earlier this week – no wonder he’s got a smile on his face!
