Rotherham United’s forward/winger Chieo Ogbene didn’t get to go to Cyprus with the rest of the squad last week.

Instead the twenty-five year old was having time out with his family and friends to re-charge his battery after playing in two friendly games for the Republic of Ireland which he said he ‘cherished’.

Speaking to IFollow Chieo said, ‘From a team point of view I think the break has been good to regenerate as a group and to recharge mentally as well as physically.. And it was good that I got to see my family and friends who I don’t see often.’

Asked about playing in his new attacking/central role for the Millers, Chieo said, ‘It’s a different role and the responsibilities as a striker are different. I’ve learnt to adapt quickly and I’m enjoying it and it’s a position I want to improve on.’

Talking about new Boss Matt Taylor Chieo said, ‘ His message is very clear and we all know what we need to do which is get the whole team in sync.

‘We had a behind closed doors game and that was good to run off some cobwebs and to see where we need to improve against a Bristol (City) team who know the Championship very well. We need to be ready and we need to be sharp.

‘We came into this season not thinking just to survive but to get as high as possible and we see ourselves as a Championship team. We have to take it game by game. It was a big win against Sheffield United then to go away to Luton and draw I’m sure these are games people didn’t expect us to get a result. But we believe in ourselves. We just need to go out there with our chests high and play the game we want to play.’
