Rotherham United’s last league game of the season was six weeks ago today so let’s have a re-cap on what’s been happening in the past seven days.

At this stage of pre-season everyone’s attention is on the transfer activity. This week there has been no comings at the New York Stadium but midfielder/winger Joe Newell has left moving over the border to Hibernian where he signed a two year deal.

It has been reported that Rotherham have had a bid turned down for Ross County midfielder Jamie Lindsay, although there has been no confirmation from the club about that.

Young defender Jake Cooper, who joined the Academy in 2015, signed his first professional contract with the club this week.

It seems obvious that a goalkeeper is high on the list of players wanted by the Millers with nobody surprised when we found out that Goalkeeping Coach Mike Pollitt would be involved in that.

Millers’ Boss Paul Warne has been linked with the upcoming vacant job at Hull City with most Vital Posters thinking that it would be a ‘bad move’ for Warney, one even saying if he went he’d probably be out of a job by Christmas.

News coming yesterday from Wales Online says that Cardiff City Manager, and former Miller, Neil Warnock, is still thinking of having Will Vaulks there next season while Millers striker Jerry Yates is interesting both Carlisle United, where he spent part of the season on loan last year, and also Swindon Town.

Although we’ve been told that the club are in talks with players I think a few fans are a bit disappointed that we’ve not seen someone through the door this week but, I think we have to realise, that players – and agents – have been on holiday and are only just coming back to ‘work’. I would imagine, though wouldn’t know for sure, that things will start moving again in the next ten days or so. Whether that be players out and the Millers looking for replacements are players in either on permanent deals or loan deals we shall have to wait and see.
