|

Rotherham United midfielder/winger Joe Newell has joined Scottish outfit Hibernian on a free signing a two-year deal.

Born in Tamworth Joe came through the Youth ranks with Peterborough United going on to make around one hundred appearances for them. In August 2015 he joined the Millers on a three-year deal and played in various positions his first goal being the only goal against Leeds United at Elland Road in November.

Joe went on to play one hundred and fifty times for Rotherham of which thirty-two was last season. All in all, he scored fifteen goals in a Millers shirt. He became one of Rotherham’s dead ball specialists and has helped others score from his free-kicks and corners.

Earlier this week the twenty-six-year-old left a message to the fans saying ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Rotherham and I leave with a heavy heart. I didn’t take the decision lightly but I feel it’s time for a fresh start.’

Hibs play in the Scottish Premiership and finished fifth last season.

All at Vital Rotherham wish Joe ‘All The Best’ for his future away from the Millers.
