A Quick Look At Those Stats

|

Rotherham United’s ‘must win game’ ended in defeat this evening when the only goal at the New York Stadium went to visitors Coventry City and came from a challenge that we wonder needed to be made giving the free-kick from which the goal was scored.

But what do the stats say? Well they say that we had more possession than the victors – fifty-six per cent to forty-four with both sides having five corners. Coventry had a better percentage in the duels although the Millers come out with a better passing accuracy in the opponents half with fifty-two per cent – I, for one, am surprised at that.

Attacking wise we had four shots, none of which were on target (although if we are counting that one from Lewis Wing in the first half you can’t get much more on target than hitting the bottom of the post can you?) with City having four on target from twelve shots. Of our four shots we had two inside and two outside the box.

The Millers conceded sixteen fouls receiving three yellow cards with the Sky Blues getting one yellow card from fourteen fouls.

To be honest there was little to cheer or shout about tonight – this game was a different as chalk and cheese from Tuesday night’s. Did we look tired? Well, I wouldn’t say that exactly but we did look out of sorts. Coventry haven’t got the best defensive record this season yet we didn’t seem to be able to get past them and, when we couldn’t, we had no answers.

Man of the Match was obviously Viktor Johansson but should it really be your ‘keeper when you are playing at home?

Right, got to put this behind us and try our best for the test that is coming up for the rest of the season – starting on Sunday when Birmingham City visit the New York Stadium.

What a dire gutless performance from the useless millers , no excuses can be made for this truly shocking performance , we are supposed to be a fit team but played like a bunch of old age pensioners, the thumping of chests and the battle cry leading up to the game well having watched this sorry excuse for a team the drop back to league one is a cert , no passion no backbone ,no guts just a woeful surrender ,nice one calamity warne .

    • Caz Neale (Herringthorpe) says:

It’s been a long season, Stuart, and it’s all come down to these last few weeks. It was a poor performance on Thursday but it came after a great performance on Tuesday night. I wonder if we’d have lost on Tuesday and won last night if people would be thinking differently?

  • Stuart webster says:

Nobody is disputes the run of fixtures we are on but last night was awful as we couldn’t muster a single effort on target , i can except losing a game but for goodness sake we was totally out fought and looked a beaten side in the first few minutes , again calamity warne must take the blame , what about giving some of the bench a starting place knowing full well we had played 48 hours earlier ,and the formation was a disaster, woeful selection and leadership from warne ,if he doesn’t get it right for Sunday then bye bye warne

    • Caz Neale (Herringthorpe) says:

Do you think the Chairman will do that, Stuart? Can’t dispute how bad it was last night. I just think Coventry took the wind out of our sales from the off and we couldn’t counter it. I do wonder what Trevor Clarke has to do to get on the bench.
