Warne ‘Really Pleased’ After Four-Nil Win

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne was ‘really pleased’ after his Millers team won four-nil at home against Reading today.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss said, ‘We took our chances really well. It was a good performance and I’m really pleased. Our first half performance was excellent and considering we are playing two small men up top we win a lot of second balls and we asked a lot of questions of a really good Reading side. Our lads had to be at their best today and from one to eleven I think they were.

‘We rode our luck and I think the score line possibly flattered us, we might have scored another one or two but they might have scored three or four, as a neutral it would have been a great game.

‘I thought they had more of the ball in the second half and caused us problems but when we won it back we always had an outlet.

‘I’m buzzing for Wash (Conor Washington) because his work rate is a joke so for him to score that goal was obviously good. And the oldest centre-half in the world scored as well which was good (we assume he means Richard Wood!). And Chieo’s goal was great while Jamie Lindsay’s was a bit fortuitous. I thought Shane Ferguson’s performance in the first half was virtually faultless and with Peter Kioso’s injury we are asking Wes (Harding) to play wing-back which is a massive demand but I thought he was good. And we are fortunate that we have subs who can come on and make the team different.

‘All in all it’s been good and no new injuries.’

Good game today, I thought we pressed particularly well in the first half and defended well in the second when needed. Paul Warne did say that it’s bad news on the Peter Kioso injury he got in mid-week and he will be out for eight to ten weeks.
