Rotherham United were in turmoil but we had to do something while we were biting our nails and waiting for news! Here are the results of some of the Polls we had during the summer months…

Will you follow the Millers to Don Valley?

We asked this towards the end of May and 73%^ of those that voted said Yes, they would. 16% said No while the rest said they would give it a try or they hadn’t decided.

We then had two votes on season tickets – the first was before we knew how much they were going to be: Would you still buy a season ticket for next season if they went up… and the vote was:
No – not if they go up at all (43%)
Will buy one however much they are (38%)
£20 (12%)
£75 (5%)
£50 (2%)

and when we found out how much they were we asked Now the prices have been announced will you get a season ticket? with the vote going:
Yes (70%)
No (25%)
Still thinking about it (5%)

Then we had the worry that we might not be able to play on a Saturday afternoon and the question asked was
IF we can’t play at 3pm on a Saturday, what would be your preferred day/time?
with the majority of people voting for a Saturday midday kick-off or a Friday night game. Luckily, this didn’t happen and we are happily playing, as normal, at 3pm on a Saturday.

The next question asked was
How will you be travelling to Don Valley
with the answers:
Public Transport (48%)
Own Transport (23%)
Other (15%)
Walk (7%)
Haven’t thought about it (7%)

It would be interesting to know, after the friendlies and first game of the season, how people are getting to the stadium. I’m very lucky that a dear friend gives me a lift.

The next poll was about away games – How many away games do you think you will get to this season? with 47% saying they would be following the Millers to 21 games plus. Although 23% said none at all.

In July one of the Polls was How many players do you think we will sign before the start of the season? and the voting went:
one (63%)
two (23%)
three (8%)
more! (6%)

Well the 6% were correct as we have signed 6 new players pre-season, Nick Fenton, who arrived on Friday, being the last.

We then voted on this seasons new shirts –
The new shirts have had an outing twice – would you buy one?

:
No (52%)
Yes, I always do (22%)
Yes, I like the design (9%)
No, don’t like them (9%)
Haven’t decided (8%)

The new away shirt got its first outing today – what did you think?
I didn’t realise it was the new one! (63%)
Didn’t like it (24%)
I liked it (13%)

The new players featured again in a poll at the end of July –
In the friendlies we’ve seen the new players – what do you think so far?

I think they’ll fit in well (31%)
Not been to any friendlies (31%)
I’ll wait until I’ve seen more of them (24%)
Some seem to fit better than others (14%)

Then, with the news that skipper, Graham Coughlan had gone to Shrewsbury the next poll was:
Who should be captain next season?
Pablo Mills (50%)
Andy Warrington (26%)
Ian Sharps (17%)
Other (7%)

and the 50% got their wish as Pabs now sports the captains armband.

With the League deciding we were to start on -17 the next poll question was
When will we get to plus points in the league?
October (52%)
November (17%)
We Won’t (14%)
September (13%)
December (2%)
January (2%)

Let’s hope the majority are right with this one

The new season was the debate for the next two polls

How many should we start with up front on Saturday?
– this was a pretty even vote and the result was :
Two (48%)
Just the one (30%)
Let’s go for it – Three (22%)

Who Will be the First League Scorer at Don Valley
Reuben Reid (32%)
Lincoln Player (28%)
Ryan Taylor (16%)
Alex Rhodes (12%)
Mark Burchill (12%)

and as we now know, Reuben Reid has written his name into the Millers history book when he became the first player to score a League goal at Don Valley Stadium.
