Rotherham United Goalkeeper Viktor Johansson said that it was ‘really tough’ after relegation finally came to the Millers last night.

Speaking after the one-nil defeat to Plymouth the twenty-five year old told Radio Sheffield that knowing the Millers had been relegated was ‘horrible’ saying it was hard to find the words.

‘It’s heart-breaking,’ the Viking said. ‘You want to give everything for the club but sometimes it doesn’t pan out the way you want.’

Asked if he could point to something that had made the season turn out how it had Viktor said, ‘No. If anyone had known what was going on, what was happening, then we’d have put it right straight away. I wish I had known something different to what anyone else knows and put it right. Confidence is a thing and when you lose a couple and the way we’ve lost sometimes it’s tough.

‘This has happened and we’ve got another game, on Wednesday, to give a good account of ourselves. We want to get points on the board. We don’t want to end the season with twenty-three points, we need to do better. And we are capable of doing better. We want to give the fans something to shout about and to disappoint them is really tough.

Time and time again Viktor has pulled out all the stops to keep the Millers in the game and he did that again last night – in fact, if some of his saves throughout the season had been in the Premier League I’m sure we’d have been hearing much more about our goalkeeper.

‘I don’t think much about my saves,’ the Millers Number One said. ‘I want the team to do well. I want us to win, at least get a point that’s my main thing. We’re a team, we lose together, we win together.’;

Asked about his future, he dismissed the question saying, ‘I’m fully concentrating on Rotherham. We’ve got five games left and I want to help the team to get more points.’

    This guy is a real star. He downplays his brilliance and deserves a move up the leagues in the summer. He’s a thoroughly nice guy which extends beyond the Club as I have personal knowledge. He will be missed next season and I reckon he will be one of those players welcomed back if he visits NYS. Good luck Vik in all your future endeavours.

      He is all those things, Bryan and I agree will be missed. But, like you, wish him all the best in wherever he goes. (Though I would love him to stay!)

    Get rid of all the players and the manager and start again. The league does not lie ,23 pts to date is pathetic. These players paid thousands a week should be ashamed of themselves.

    I used to moan about getting 20 chances a game, and mostly putting one or two in the net. That was down to a brilliant coaching set up and cut price strikers.

    Now we only get one or two chances and rarely score.

    Time for a serious re start. Less than 6 players should stay.
