Rotherham United got an away point this evening after a two-all draw with Coventry City.
But what do those stats tell us?
The Millers possession came out at forty-six per cent while we won fifty-one per cent of the duels and fifty-four per cent of the aerial duels. Of the seven corners in the game Coventry had six of them this evening.
Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at sixty-three per cent – City getting a few per cent more – and our crossing accuracy at fifty-eight per cent was twenty-five per cent more than the hosts.
In attack Rotherham had ten shots at goal, nine of those from outside the box, four of the ten being on target. The Sky Blues had six on target from twenty shots.
We made twenty-two clearances tonight which was thirteen more than City’s while we conceded eleven fouls, City seven, and of the five yellow cards three were given to Millers’ players.
It was a strange game I thought. One we could have quite easily won, one we could have easily lost so to end up with a point can’t be all that bad – frustrating though giving away that penalty in the last minute of normal time after our defenders had been on form for much of the evening. But, I know I’ve said this before but it came straight after we’d made three changes. To me, all those changes at once seems to confuse, or maybe disorientate is a better word, our players. I actually feared the worst when we gave away a free-kick on the ninety-sixth minute on the edge of the area but, luckily, we came away with the point. Although, I still musing over the fact that it might have been more. On the other hand we can say that it was much, much better than Saturday’s offering.
