It wasn’t a pretty game yesterday and we lost one-nil to our local rivals. But what about those stats?
In the end there wasn’t a lot of difference in the possession percentage – the Millers having fifty-one. In all of the duels we just clinched it again with fifty-one per cent but our visitors won sixty per cent of the duels in the air.
There were twelve corners in the game of which Rotherham won just two while our passing accuracy in our opponents half (which I presume was mostly in the second forty-five minutes) came out at fifty-five per cent, the Owls having five per cent more.
One thing that I did note is that our crossing accuracy was just six per cent – which, in my eyes, is nothing near enough, in fact, a rather pathetic stat.
We had seven shots on goal, four inside the box, of which one was on target. Our visitors had four on target from seventeen shots.
Our tackle rate success was eighty-five per cent from twenty tackles while the Owls, made just eight tackles (well, we did keep giving the ball to them) with one hundred per cent success.
Of the thirty fouls conceded we made sixteen, two more than the opposition while there were three yellow cards, two of those to Wednesday players.
We were never really in the game in the first half and time and again the Wednesday forwards got into good shooting positions which they failed to capitalise on. I think it was always doubtful we would get anything from the game but it would have been nice to try and not keep going backwards which isn’t only negative it put our backline in danger.
I feel at the moment watching Rotherham is like going to the dentist where you pluck up courage to go and bear the pain knowing it will soon be over.
