Rotherham United got three points at home against Middlesbrough yesterday – but what about those stats?
The Millers got twenty-nine per cent possession – which I think is fair – and we got forty-eight per cent of the duels but won the aerial duels with fifty-eight per cent. There were eleven corners in the game and, for the second game in a row, none of them went the Millers way.
Our passing accuracy overall came out at sixty-seven per cent – ‘Boro got eighty-seven per cent – and in our opponents half was fifty-one per cent which was thirty per cent worse than the visitors.
In attack we had three shots on goal of which one was on target (and I’m guessing that wasn’t the actual goal as I’m not sure that was a shot!) although, saying that, of the three shots two were from outside the box so maybe it was! Middlesbrough had five shots on target from nineteen.
Rotherham’s tackle success rate came out at fifty-five per cent with ‘Boro’s being fifteen per cent more while we made twenty seven clearances to their six while of the twenty fouls twelve were made by us. There were no cards shown in the game.
If we’re being honest the stats don’t put us in a good light but as Millers fans I think we know this game was much better than what we’ve seen in the not so distance past. Yes, we got a bit of luck but, as the Head Coach says, we deserved that luck. Can we do better? Of course we can. But Leam Richardson has only been here a couple of weeks and we have to give him time to get things sorted how he wants it.
All I’m thinking today is that’s three points and it could be the start of a revival for Rotherham United.
