Rotherham United narrowly lost their home game against Watford one-nil – but what about those stats?
The Millers had fifty-two per cent of possession and were the better team in the duels winning fifty-four per cent of the duels in the air and fifty-six per cent overall. Of the thirteen corners Rotherham won seven while our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at fifty-seven per cent, which was three per cent less than Watford.
In attack we had nineteen shots on goal (Paul Hardcastle would be impressed), fourteen of those from inside the box but, sadly, just one shot on target. Our visitors had one on target from eight shots.
We made twenty-six tackles, fourteen more than the Hornets, with a sixty-five per cent tackle success rate. The Millers conceded thirteen fouls (hmmm) which was two more than Watford and of the three yellow cards Rotherham got two.
I was impressed with our effort today but, of course, it’s points that keep you up and to get points you need goals which we don’t seem to be able to buy at the moment. We had more shots on goal yesterday than we have for ages but don’t seem to worry the opposing goalkeeper enough, saying that I don’t think either ‘keeper had much to do yesterday. And, let’s be fair, it was a cracker of a goal they scored to win.
It was good to see Cam Humphreys get another eighty minutes under his belt and Shane Ferguson make his first appearance of the season while good to see Andy Rinomhota getting the full game.
