The Stats – Millers v Hatters

|

Rotherham United were beaten at home by Luton Town yesterday. But what do the stats say?

The Hatters had the majority of possession with fifty-four per cent and were also better in the duels in the air the Millers won forty-three per cent of the duels.

Of the eight corners in the games Rotherham got just two of them while our passing accuracy came out at sixty-one per cent but just thirty-five per cent in our opponents half.

In attack we had four shots at goal, all from outside the box, although none were on target while our visitors had five shots on target from fifteen.

Both teams tackle success rate was sixty-seven per cent – to be honest I don’t think our lads wanted to put a tackle in yesterday, it was very much, ‘I’ll stand back and watch and hope the ball comes my way’ – although I am maybe being a bit harsh there.

According to the referee we gave away seventeen fouls and Luton one less with Town getting five yellow cards and the Millers two.

It wasn’t a pretty game. It wasn’t exciting with most of our fans venting their frustration at the referee, who, frankly made Trevor Kettle look good. I can take the game not being exciting, not being a good spectacle, but we really do need to get some shots on goal.

Tuesday. We have to do better. Probably much better.
