The Stats – Millers v ‘Boro

Rotherham United saved themselves from going down with a one-nil home win against Middlesbrough yesterday.

But what do those stats tell us?

Well possession wise, looking at them, you’d think the Millers hardly had the ball with them saying it was seventy-seven per cent to our visitors. ‘Boro also won sixty-per cent of the duels the Millers duels in the air coming out at forty-seven per cent.

Of the twelve corners in the games Rotherham won just one while our passing accuracy in our opponents half comes out at forty-eight per cent, the opposition’s being seventy per cent.

In attack we had four shots at goal, two from inside the box, two outside, of which one was on target. ‘Boro had one shot on target from seven.

Our tackle success rate was sixty-three per cent, thirteen per cent more than the visitors while we committed seventeen fouls to Boro’s seven with the Millers getting three yellow cards to their one yellow and one red.

So much effort from so many players not just today but the whole season. Yes, we’ve lost, yes we’ve played some poor games, yes we aren’t the most productive but today there was the effort in getting into the lead and staying in the lead. I, for one, am proud of these boys. And, with all the after match video’s and ‘photo’s I’ve been watching I think the players are proud of Rotherham United and what they’ve achieved.
