The Stats – Millers v Blackburn Rovers

Rotherham United’s first game of 2024 saw them bring a point home from Blackburn Rovers.

But what do the stats say?

Rovers had sixty-two per cent of possession and they were more successful in the duels than we were winning sixty per cent of the aerial duels.

There were ten corners in the game which were shared out equally with the Millers passing accuracy coming out at seventy-six per cent and sixty-four per cent in our opponents half which was sixteen per cent less than Blackburn.

Attack wise the Millers had thirteen shots at goal, ten from inside the box, of which four were on target while the hosts had nine on target from eighteen shots.

The Millers conceded eleven fouls, six more than Rovers, while our tackle success rate came out as fifty per cent to Rovers sixty-five with the only yellow card of the game going to Rotherham.

To be honest wouldn’t you expect the home side to have the better of the stats?  Yesterday I think we played an ‘away performance’ – defended when we had to and got forward when we could and came home with a point – our third away point of the season – and, I’ve said it before, a point away from home in the Championship is not to be sniffed at.
